Welcome to Woodenshoes
Tibetan Spaniels
We are located in Anza and Oceanside, California. We show our dogs in AKC (American Kennel Club) shows.
Among his human enthusiasts, the Tibetan Spaniel is called the "best-kept secret in the dog world." He is small but not delicate, devoted but not slavish, sensitive but not temperamental, beautiful but not flashy. He questions our authority, teases our intellect and tweaks our hearts. The Tibbie's intelligence and sturdiness make him a superlative companion to you and that is his life's work.
They are versatile in hiking and boating, as therapy dogs, good with children and seniors, but need a firm direction with training. The breed can also be a little aloof.
The Tibetan Spaniel originated in the region historically known as Tibet, an area in Central Asia roughly one-third the size of the contiguous forty-eight states in the U.S. The breed was also found in adjacent areas including Nepal and Bhutan. They were used as faithful companions and watch dogs, even patrolled the monastery.
